Here's a few

Questions & Answers

You might like to consider

  • Where are you based?

Based in the pretty market town of Calne in the centre of Wiltshire. I am happy to cover weddings just about anywhere. Some of my weekly commercial photo assignments takes me to London and beyond - so distance is not a problem.

  • What type of payment methods do you accept?

Preferred payment is by BACS, but you can pay the old fashioned method, a cheque!

  • How do we book you, do I need to pay a deposit

    Yes please.

We keep things simple! There is a charge when the booking has been made. £100.00 for weddings to the value of under £1000.00 and £150.00 for weddings over the value of £1000.00

    Preferred payment is via BACS.

All details are on the booking form page.

The balance is paid in full, one calendar month before the wedding date.

  • Do you offer photo books or print albums?

Yes.... to photo albums and books (digital / online albums and books) various sizes that are available in two styles.

Hard back books with traditional pages bound together like a standard book usually (12" x 12") or the modern wedding style albums called 'lie flat' (usually 10"x10") again in hard back, where images can be spread across two whole pages with out being lost 'in the groove' like a conventional book.

A selection of albums and books are available for you to look through at the consultation meeting.

And no .... to offering the 'old fashion style' print albums.

  • What camera equipment do you have?

Full frame professional Nikon mirroless cameras, using top line assorted Nikon lenses. I have been a Nikon photographer since 1984.

  • Do you have back up camera equipment?

Yes, I carry two professional Nikon camera bodies complete with additional flashes and assortment of Nikon lenses.

  • Should you fall ill etc. do you have a have a back up plan?

This has never happened thankfully! I hope by saying this I'm not tempting fate!

However, as the question is asked, I have a network of professional wedding photographers that I have worked with over the years. One of these photographers would step in should an emergency arise.

  • Do you have insurance?

I have public liability and professional indemnity to the value of £5 million.

My camera equipment is covered by a photographic specialist insurance.

My camera has two memory card slots. This means all the images are captured twice,  if one card should ever corrupt, I have an immediate back up.

  • How long have you been a professional photographer?

I have been a professional photographer since April 1984. I started as a darkroom assistant / photographer for a series of weekly local newspapers in the Cotswolds. I then became a staff photographer for the Western Daily Press for ten years, before starting my own business in 2009.

  • What is your dress code?

I like to be smart on your wedding day. I always wear a smart jacket, tie and trousers.

  • How many images will we get?

Depends on the package and the length of time I'm at the venue.

Usually my all day service (Diamond package) after editing, a collection of 'around' 600 images.

The four hour service (Gold package) after editing, a collection of 'around' 300 images.

And the 90 minute service (Mini package) after editing. a collection of 'around' 100 images.

There is no limit on how many images are taken for each package.

The weather can also be a factor too, more sunshine equals more images.

Again - if I have more photo opportunities on the day then simply I take more images.

  • What about the copyright?

Legally and technically the copyright stands with the photographer. However, in reality you can do whatever you want with the photos, they're yours! You will be supplied with non watermarked high resolution images that are suitable for canvas wall prints.

That said, if your suppliers should ask to share on their website if they seek my permission for the sake of networking, it all helps to work together!

Why put obstacles in the way, my aim is to get recommendations from weddings!

  • What about formal photos, do you do them?

Formal photographs as well as your other needs can be discussed at the consultation meeting when you first book me for your wedding photography.

It's all about what you personally want and require on your special day.

  • How far do you travel?

Simply ... Happy to travel anywhere.

The majority of my weddings are across Wiltshire, Bath, Bristol and Gloucestershire.

That said, I am happy to cover weddings anywhere in the UK, all I ask is that you cover my overnight accomodation costs. I have also photographed weddings in Germany, Denmark and Gibraltar.

  • Can we meet up before booking you?

100 per cent yes!  - It's a prerequisite. This is the opportunity to discuss the photography and how it works for you on the day.

  • How long does it take to edit our wedding photos?

There is no set time, every wedding is different. Time can vary with the amount of photographs taken. My aim is to return your images within the month.

  • Can we print the photos from the USB stick?

You certain can! Only too happy for you to print them, that said go to good lab and don't forget to back your files 'in the cloud' or on to an external drive for safe keeping.

  • Do you just photograph weddings?

I am a full time photographer, as well as wedding photography I am also a commercial photographer, untaking a variety of PR assignments.

  • We didn't choose a package with a wedding album but we love the photos but now want one of your albums, is this possible?

Of course you can. Only to happy to oblige.

This often happens for several reasons. Wedding couples come back to me to re look at the photo albums I have on offer and discuss how many pages they would like to add to their indivdually deigned and bespoke album.

  • Do you do engagement / pre wedding shoots?

Yes, this normally come inclusive with the all day Diamond Package.

A pre wedding shoot can be added to any wedding.

  • Do you edit all of our photographs?

Yes, I do!  All images are looked at individually and adjusted one by one where it's needed. I do not 'batch edit' or air brush wedding photographs.

  • Do you have past clients we can speak to as references?

    Yes, of course!

I have many wedding couples I can put you in touch with. This is not a problem.

  • Can some of our photos be delivered in both black & white and colour?

    Yes on request.

  • Are our digital files watermarked?

The high resolution files you receive after editing are not water marked.

  • I have an idea for a photo, can we try it?

    Delighted to work with you.

The images will be your collection of photographs to look back on years to come. Your ideas and requests will be discussed at the consultation meeting to ensure your ideas are captured on your wedding day.

  • Do we need to feed you at our wedding?

Well since you asked.....   An all day wedding service (Diamond Package) is a long day, so a light meal or sandwich and a soft drink is gratefully received. Thank You.

With regards to the four hour service (Gold Package) I finish and depart when you sit for your wedding breakfast.

  • Can family and friends view the photos?

The photographs are yours and you can share as many times as you like. If any of your family and friends would like to order  photo album / book, I am happy to oblige.

  • How do we view our photos?

After the wedding when all the images have been edited  they are then placed onto a USB for your safe keeping and you can therefore share the images with your family and friends direct. However, before then with your permission, I usually post a few of the 'favourites' on the Candid Pictures Wedding Facebook page for all to see and encourage you all to 'share.'

  • Can we print our photos ourselves?

Of course you may. You can share them far and wide!

  • Do you have a studio?

I don't really have the need for a studio. However, that doesn't stop me from using a different location or your premises i.e. for the engagment / pre wedding shoot, as I have a set of professional portable studio lighting set up together with an assortment of backdrops.

  • Do you work alone?

I am used to working efficiently and at speed, working unobstructively not disturbing the flow and events of the wedding day, so generally work alone. When required I work with a second photographer, this is usually discussed and agreed at the consultation meeting.

  • We would like to upgrade our package?

Your wedding package is bespoke to meet your wishes on your important day this is discussed and agreed with you during the wedding consultation.

  • We need to postpone the wedding, is this possible?

Providing I am available on your future date requested then I can simply transfer the booking across. If the date is already prebooked I am happy to discuss other options. That said, please note that booking fees are non- refundable.

  • If I need to cancel my wedding, is the booking fee refundable?

The booking fee is non refundable. This is because I have held the date excusively for you, and once you've accepted the contract I don't accept any other bookings on that date.

  • When should we book you for your wedding?

    Simply ASAP.

I don't 'pencil you in.'  Your wedding is booked when I have received your deposit. Most wedding couples contact me at least one year ahead of their BIG day however, I do book weddings at much shorter notice if I am availbale.
